ArcGIS Pro is the latest component of ArcGIS Desktop. It isn’t an update to ArcMap, but a totally new application designed to retain the same functionalities while incorporating the most modern technology. ArcGIS Pro features more powerful computing, an intuitive, accessible design, advanced sharing capabilities, and much more.

Is ArcMap going away?

ArcMap is going to be phased out by 2026, and desktop development efforts are focused on ArcGIS Pro. We encourage you to migrate to ArcGIS Pro and leverage the advanced field mobility capabilities with ArcGIS Online.

How do I install ArcGIS Pro and obtain a license?

You will need to put in a Tall Timbers Help Desk ticket for an ArcGIS Pro install and the IT/GIS Section will be able to assign a Pro license to you. The Help Desk can be accessed from https://talltimbers.freshdesk.com. Staff without a Tall Timbers email can send an email to support@talltimbers.freshdesk.com in order to create a ticket.

How can I get updated with the newest version of ArcGIS Pro?

Before updating to a new ArcGIS Pro version, it is suggested you first check with the Geospatial Lab to make sure it has been tested since new updates can sometimes cause issues. It is generally advised to let a new version upgrade, such as version 3.0, be tested and perhaps wait until a patch (version 3.0.1) has been made available before updating.

For ArcGIS Pro updates, you will need to put in a Tall Timbers Help Desk ticket. The Help Desk can be accessed from https://talltimbers.freshdesk.com. Staff without a Tall Timbers email can send an email to support@talltimbers.freshdesk.com in order to create a ticket.
