The Tall Timbers (TT) Web GIS is a collection of onsite and cloud-based systems that allows Tall Timbers staff and collaborators to share data; create interactive maps; configure apps; and, conduct common geospatial workflows such as basic data collection, editing and reporting.
Because the TT Web GIS is a complex set of interconnected systems: onsite and cloud-based; open source and proprietary (ESRI) software; internal and public access, it is important to develop an understanding of its overall potential, its individual features and the specifics on access and use so that you can better take advantage of its potential.
This document is your starting point. Please see the outline below for important documents to read and understand as you develop a plan for interacting with the TT Web GIS.
TT Web GIS Documentation
- Tall Timbers Web GIS Roadmap (Current document): An introduction to the TT Web GIS and its documentation.
- Tall Timbers Web GIS: Overview of the TT Web GIS containing discussion on component systems and access.
- Geospatial Data Infrastructure (GDI): Overview of the onsite system and server environment that hosts ESRI’s ArcGIS Enterprise software. It is a part of the TT Web GIS.
- Tall Timbers Web GIS Access Paths: An explanation of the different paths for interacting with content in the TT Web GIS.
- Tall Timbers Web GIS Best Practices: A set of recommended guidelines for sharing and interacting within the collaborative TT Web GIS environment.

ESRI Documentation, Training and UC Proceedings
Having a general understanding of ESRI’s philosophy on the Web GIS paradigm and how it is implemented in their geospatial cloud (ArcGIS Online) and ArcGIS Enterprise software will provide a valuable foundation for hopefully understanding the Organization’s design and implementation decisions.
- ArcGIS Online Documentation: ESRI's resource site for ArcGIS Online
- ArcGIS Enterprise Documentation: ESRI's resource site for ArcGIS Enterprise
- ESRI’s Online Learning Content: This site is a great place to start if you are not familiar with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise. Some training is restricted to only those with existing ArcGIS Online Organizational accounts.
- ESRI 2023 UC Proceedings: Workshops and presentations from the most recent User Conference may provide helpful insights and tips.
- Resources from recent ESRI events: Workshops, presentations and papers from several past conferences, forums and summits which may provide ideas and help with current and upcoming projects.
