Requirements for checking out new Trimble GPS units:

Trimble DA2 Catalyst operators are required to complete a short training session with Geospatial Lab staff only. Required training cannot be provided to staff that has attended previous sessions (i.e. no training by proxy).

Conditions:

The Trimble GPS units are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations for a unit can be made up to three weeks in advance from the desired check-out date. Please go to the Geospatial Lab Device Scheduling page to schedule a GPS unit. Please submit a Help Desk ticket if you need further assistance.

The maximum check-out period is 48 hours (2 days) unless special arrangements have been made. Check-out for a longer period of time must have prior, written approval from the GIS/IT department. Please promptly return the equipment as others may be waiting to use it. Download all your data before check-in.

Failure to abide by these conditions will result in loss of GPS privileges and/or fines associated with the refusal to return equipment equaling the cost of the unit.

Care of lithium-ion batteries in Android TCD Mobile Unit :

Before use, please be sure and check the back cover of the Android TCD Mobile Unit to make sure it it is not elevated/open due to an expanded and degraded battery. The lifespan of a BA7800S lithium-ion battery, like most Li-ion batteries, is typically around 2-3 years or 300-500 full charge cycles, whichever comes first.

Charging Habits: Frequent and deep discharges can shorten the lifespan, while charging to 80% or less can extend it.

Environmental Conditions: High temperatures can accelerate battery degradation.
